We have been richly blessed as a church. The current leadership consists of 1 full-time Pastor, 1 lay elder and 3 lay deacons. Most of our leaders have been serving since the church started as a bible study group in 1995. Our full-time Pastor is in his late 50s while the other leaders are between late 20s and late 40s. Our current leadership is actively seeking God to provide the next generation of leaders.
In particular, we need a 2nd full-time man who can be groomed towards becoming the next full-time elder/Pastor of the Church. God-willing, this man ideally should be:
Of the same conviction in doctrine and practice as the Church (in addition to holding the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith)
Teachable and desiring to be shaped by God towards being a Pastor
Willing and desiring to be a member of Ebenezer Church, to serve, grow with the Church and allow the Church membership to recognize and confirm his gifts and calling to be a full-time elder, over a period of time
Able to preach and teach in English and Mandarin (if possible) and shepherd a flock of diverse age and race
Skilled and knowledgeable in the Word of God, though not necessarily seminary-trained
Well-received and respected by Church members, regular worshippers and a man of good standing in the eyes of outsiders
Obviously, God’s will for us may not work out exactly as we desire or envision. The possibilities are infinite. By expressing our need and desire for a 2nd full-time man, we hope not to shut our doors to any possibilities of providence. (Through this exercise, God may even move a younger man in our current membership to consider full-time ministry.) We hope you will pray for us even as we undertake this leadership continuity planning exercise.
